The tribe discovered Iaca and noticed that the new tree had purple berries plentiful enough and nutritious enough to sustain the entire tribe. The tribal chief said that the newborns would now be spared death and he named the berries Acai (Iaca spelled backwards) after his daughter.

Folklore aside, modern science has discovered some truly magical qualities about the acai berry. Acai berries contain super antioxidants, essential amino acids and omega 3 fatty acids.

Antioxidants are all capable of fighting cancer by fighting free radicals that damage cells and are the prelude to cancer and the aging process. The super antioxidant in acai berries that gives the berries their royal purple color is called anthocyanin. This super antioxidant has been found to slow and stop the growth of tumors. Antioxidants are also necessary for repairing damaged cells and replenishing tissue.

Because free radicals are also responsible for the aging process, acai berries are also great for preventing premature aging and slowing the biological clock.

Animal protein contains a complete balance of essential amino acids, but plants do not. Acai berries, however, contain a nearly complete blend of essential amino acids making them a potent protein source without the saturated fat contained in animal protein.

Instead of saturated fat, acai berries contain omega 3 fatty acids, which have the remarkable ability to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise good cholesterol (HDL). Fish and fish oil supplements contain omega 3 fatty acids.

Just about everyone has at least heard about the Bowflex home gym through commercials, print ads or infomercials that they have been running for years. The advertising of the Bowflex includes some impressive claims about how this machine can help you get into great shape quickly.

However, the question most people have after they see an infomercial about the bowflex home gym is, can it really deliver the kind of results by using it for only twenty minutes a day and only three times a week?

If you have ever caught one of the Bowflex home gyms television advertisements, then you have seen some pretty incredible looking pecs and abs which are attributed to the machine. Is it all hype or is there some validity to the claims about what this at strength equipment wonder machine can do?

Rubbing shoulders with others who are committed to fitness is one of the reasons that many people like to go into the local gym on a regular basis. This helps to keep them motivated. But, many others prefer to be able to work out at home and the Bowflex home gym is a piece of equipment that can provide a number of great workouts.

There are those who are experienced in health and fitness issues. These people use traditional commercial fitness equipment which are found in gyms around the country. The results have almost unanimously been that Bowflex home gyms are a viable alternative to the bulky and costly commercial exercise equipment found in professional settings.

The design that is at the heart of the Bowflex home gym very closely simulates the kind of range of motions that you are able to achieve through the use of free weights. However, instead of relying on the force of gravity against the plates of the weight equipment, the Bowflex employs a system of resistance that is produced by utilizing a cable and pulley structure.

The cable and pulley arrangement is attached to resistance rods which act like very strong springs that have potential energy stored up. This is what provides the resistance that is so important to a good workout, building muscle strength and tone.

Fitness experts say that it is quite an ingenious design because it allows you to position your body for the exercises without having to worry about the angle needed for gravity, as you must be aware of when using free weight equipment.

This in turn allows the Bowflex home gym to be more compact in the overall use of space because you are able to do a bench press while you are in a seated position. Normally, you would need to be spread out on a bench in order to do such an exercise using free weights. This way, you can workout in a more restricted space if needed.

The unique use of the resistance rods in the Bowflex home gym also means that the weight of this piece of portable fitness equipment is much less than with other kinds of home gym equipment. Most other home gyms rely on some kind of weights, making them heavy and expensive to ship and very difficult to move. Bowflex home gyms are considerably easier to move either to a different room or a completely different location if needed.

Another popular feature of the Bowflex home gym is that you can change the level of resistance almost on-the-fly. You do not have to get up from your workout position and handle awkward plates as you need to do with free weight equipment.

Every man wants to have the famous 6 pack abs. Every woman wants to have a tone flat stomach. The abdominal region is the sign of ultimate fitness. Many people are constantly searching for the best lower ab workouts so they can strengthen that region and get the sculpted abs they desire. There are 2 key parts to having perfect abs. First you have to have a good overall abdominal workout which includes specific lower ab workouts. The second part is probably harder, though, than just doing regular lower ab workouts. Having a good diet is a critical part of your overall health and fitness program and without it, you won’t be able to see your sculpted abs because they are covered up by layers of fat. We will discuss the foundations of a good diet then go over some specific lower ab workouts you can fit into your overall exercise program.

A good healthy diet is the most important thing you can do to uncover your sculpted abs. As I said above, your lower ab workouts won’t do anything if you have 30 lbs of fat around your midsection. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of diets out there and probably twice as many books written about them so I am not going to tell you what you need to eat to be healthy. I will give you a few pointers then you can figure out what works for you.

The first part of a healthy diet is water. You need to drink lots of water. You should drink at least 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight. This means if you are 200 pounds, you need to drink at least 100 ouces of water. It would be even better if you would drink at least 1 ounce of water for each pound of body weight. Giving your body plenty of water allows it to flush out all the toxins and help get your system healthy. Ideally you would drink nothing but water, but if you just have to have something else, be smart about it. Try to stay away from drinks with lots of sugar in them. There is a lot of research suggesting that artificial sweeteners are even worse than sugar so don’t think just because your Diet Coke doesn’t have any sugar or any calories you can drink as much as you want. Do your best to stick with water then have a small serving if you need something else.

The second part of a healthy diet is obviously the food you eat. As I said, there are a thousand theories on what is best to eat, but every diet I have ever seen says vegetables are a good thing to eat. Even the Atkins diet has you eat low carb vegetables like lettuce. So if every diet has this in common, it is pretty easy to see that this may be the best way to go. Most diets recommend avoiding fatty and fried foods. I would recommend the same thing. Start by switching from fried foods to baked foods and eat smaller portions. Add a salad or other fresh vegetable to your meal. Don’t drench your salad in oily salad dressing or cover your vegetables with cheese sauce as that defeats the purpose of a healthy vegetable. Another trick is to drink a big glass of water before you eat to help fill you up. A healthy diet will help turbo charge your lower ab workouts on your quest to get sculpted abs.

Now that you have a little bit of a of a foundation with a healthy diet, its time to start talking about your lower ab workouts. The best thing to do is find several lower ab workouts you like doing and mix them in with a full abdominal workout and rotate them in with your other workouts. I like to work out 5 or 6 days a week. Typically, 3 days a week you should do some cardio-vascular exercise that gets your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes. These can be great days to do your upper and lower ab workouts. Pick one exercise from the lower ab workouts and pick one upper ab exercise and go them after you do your cardio. I like to do exercises to failure. When you start out, do the exercise until you can’t do any more. This will give you a great workout. As you get stronger, you can do 2 or 3 sets, but I think you get the best results by going until you can’t do any more. That way you know you got the most exercise you can. Here are a few exercises that you can use to make up your lower ab workouts.

Suspended Leg or Knee Raises
The idea of this exercise is to be suspended off the ground and raise your legs up which focuses on your lower abdominals. Many gyms have a station that kinda looks like a chair with no seat. You put your forearms on the arms and support yourself off the ground. Another common thing is arm straps that support you in the upper arm area. You can also use a pull up bar to hang from, but that requires you to have a pretty good grip. Ok, now that you are suspended in the air, you can do one of two things. The easiest is to lift your knees up towards your body. You let your legs bend when you do this. After a few reps you will feel the burn in your lower abs. As you get stronger you can go to leg raises where you keep your legs straight and raise them up until they are parallel to the floor. With your legs straight, it is harder to raise them and thus a better workout for your lower abs. Whichever way you go, I recommend doing them until you can’t do any more. This exercise is a staple in many lower ab workouts and I think it should be in every lower ab workout plan.

Leg Lifts
Another common exercise in lower ab workouts is the leg lift. For this exercise, you lay on the ground and with your legs straight. You simply raise your legs off the ground and hold. You can either hold as long as you can or have a predetermined count like 10 and after you count to 10 you lower your legs briefly then bring them back up to do another rep.

Hip Lifts
I don’t know if there is a better name for this exercise, but it is pretty simple. Again, you lay on your back with your legs straight. First you lift your lets up and point your toes at the ceiling. Your body will basically form an “L” shape. Lift your hips off the ground as you extend your legs towards the ceiling. You can either try to hold this position or lower back down and do it again and perform multiple reps. You may want to work this one into your lower ab workouts, but if you aren’t very flexible, this one will be kinda hard to do.

Exercise Ball Lower Ab Workouts
If you have ever worked out on an exercise ball, you know how difficult it can be just balancing. The good news is that as you get better at balancing, the thing you are doing is strengthening you’re your core (aka abdominals). The simple act of exercising on an exercise ball is kind of like doing lower ab workouts even if you aren’t focusing on that area. You can also do ab exercises on the exercise ball. Even if you don’t plan to do lower ab workouts on an exercise ball, I would recommend getting one as it is a great workout for your abs even when you aren’t trying.

Stretching is something that can also be done almost anywhere, even while you are sitting at your desk. You can perform these stress relieving exercises while watching television and there unlikely to disturb anyone else in the room.

Take a walk around your workplace at lunchtime and before you start work. Take a few extra minutes to do some exercise before leaving for home at night. Easy weight loss

There are many opportunities throughout the day where you can give your health a boost. Seize all the chances you can to improve your fitness and you will reap the rewards for many years .

It takes a long time for most people to get fat and this usually occurs from eating just a little too much of the wrong foods too often.

If we are to reverse that situation and only reduce our calories by 100 per day, which is something that most people can achieve without too much effort , then the effect after a year or so can be quite dramatic.

Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of time your friends and colleagues spend in the gym? Turned off by the idea of a tennis game that entails not only the hour-long match but also getting to the tennis club, changing into a tennis outfit and then showering afterwards?

You think, “That’s almost 3 hours – three hours I could catch up with my favorite TV programs!” The bad news is, being penny wise and pound foolish does not work in ANY circumstance, especially where health and fitness are concerned.

Are those three hours worth skipping during a given week when you know that years of optimum health can be yours if you had a positive attitude matched by reasonable doses of discipline?

Instead of ignoring exercise altogether, here’s a suggestion for integrating it into your busy schedule. Think of exercise like you think of a major project in the office. Break it up into tinier parts.

Instead of spending two hours in the gym or in the tennis court like your friends do, ask your trainer to divide your workout program.

Suggestion 1
30 minutes four times a week, i.e.: 20 minutes cardio, 10 minutes weights (1 muscle group, e.g. legs)

Suggestion 2
30 minutes three times a week
Mon: 20 minutes cardio + 10 minutes stretching;
Tues: 20 minutes weights (2 muscle groups, e.g. back and abdominals) + 10 minutes of cardio.
Wed: 20 minutes cardio + 10 minutes of
Weights (two muscle groups, e.g. triceps or chest, biceps or shoulders)

Suggestion 3
20 minutes 5 days a week.
Week 1: all cardio
Week 2: weights
Week 3: Cardio on Mon/Wed/Fri
Week 4: Weights on Tues/Thurs
Repeat the entire cycle when you get to month 2.

Ideally, one should gradually increase the intensity or frequency, or both. But if you’re busy, and absolutely can’t spare more than 30 minutes a day, then increase your intensity. This means if your cardio involves the treadmill, take the notch up 1 level (if you started with level 3, go on to level 4 on month 2).

For your weight training, if you started with 5-pound weights, graduate into 7.5 pounds in month 2. And then on those days when your day is not filled with meetings, try to stay an extra 5-10 minutes.

Be realistic with your goals, especially when you’re just starting can overwhelm you, making you want to give up. Variety is the Spice of Life. Another way to integrate exercise into a busy schedule is to vary the fitness routine. Variety promotes interest in sticking to your workout schedule. Without variety, boredom sets in, resulting in you giving up.

Variety also allows you to accommodate as many different types of exercises from the wide repertory available from personal trainers, books and manuals – and the Internet – and that way you’re able to adopt certain movements that you’re most comfortable with.

And of course gardening can be great exercise. Why, you could even build a pergola. Then you’d have a place to relax and entertain.

Your business success, and profits may all center around how well you communicate with your training clients.

When you become a personal trainer you take your enthusiasm, and knowledge of fitness with the goal of empowering other fitness minded individuals. To motivate, and have a positive influence on others you must utilize effective communication skills.

Your job as a personal fitness trainer is to educate, empower, and motivate people into reaching their own health and fitness goals. The only way to accomplish this is to utilize verbal communication. The more you focus on improving communication skills, the more money you can potentially earn as a personal trainer.

It is sad to report that one of the most neglected aspects of a personal trainer training program is the teaching of effective communication.

When you conduct your first training session with a new fitness training client, you should be focused on the best way to deliver your important message. This applies to both the sales process, as well as the actual personal fitness training sessions.

To utilize empowering communication within your personal training business you must first be aware of what type of personality you really have. Are you a very social, talkative person? Are you quiet, reserved, and introverted?

It is important to be aware of this because what you must first do when meeting a client is interpret what type of personality they have. Are they really social? Are they quiet, and don't want to talk? You must find out quickly, and pattern your presentation after their unique personality. If they are very quiet, reserved, and have a dry sense of humor, you should not be extremely loud, and overly enthusiastic during your sales presentation, and future personal training sessions. This will most definitely turn the client completely off.

In the beginning of a personal trainer - client relationship you may not fully know what type of personality your new clients really have. Therefore, what I always recommend is to listen 80% of the time, and only talk 20%. If the fitness training client starts yapping, you will know they like to talk. Therefore, you can use more of a social approach to communicate, and motivate them.

Instead, you really need to operate your personal training business by presenting information to the client in a way that is comfortable, and extremely motivating to them. The biggest advice I can offer you after becoming a personal trainer is to pattern your personality after theirs. If they are talkative, you be talkative. If they are louder, you be louder. If they are quiet, you should be more reserved.

Another home personal trainers tip I can suggest to you regarding effective communication is to discover the art of listening.

Listening, which is also an important aspect of communication, will make you more money than you can possibly dream of. I always recommend personal fitness trainers listen 80% of the time, and talk only 20% of the time. The fitness training session is all about the client, not you. Focus solely on them. Make them feel they are the most important personal in the world. You really want your fitness training clients to feel like they are always heard, and completely understood. What has been taught in my personal trainer education is discovering what really, deep down inspires clients to act. You will want to continue reminding clients of their goals in subtle ways that empowers them. This is all accomplished through the means of effective communication.

What I have discovered over twenty five years of operating a personal training business is positive reinforcement is
the best way to go. Yelling at clients generally doesn't motivate them, but being extremely positive, when they do something that moves them closer to their goals, deserves praise. Praise elicits more of the same behavior. After all, isn't that what the main goal is?

Being an effective communicator is one of the most important aspects of running a successful personal training business. Fitness trainers who master this skill are the ones that make the most money. If you always continue to improve on this skill, you fitness training business will continue to thrive.
