What Socks Mean To Me

One fashion accessory that is just as as fashionable as ever and can be worn by people of all ages with virtually anything is argyle socks. These ageless socks have been around for years and do not look to be leaving the market anytime soon.

They can come in many different and especially colors so they can match with many most of your wardrobe. Many times the style of the individual is designed to make them stand out. Argyle socks are perfect for this as some creative ensembles can be made with the designs that are on them. This can not be said of normal white or one color socks which tend not to make any impact at all.

Birthday Present For Dad Ideas

Most Dads like tools, for the home or the office. A stick on basketball net or a miniature air hockey table would be a good birthday present for Dad. There are smaller gadgets too, like a card shuffler or a combination bottle opener and lighter. Men never quite grow out of penknives or model aero planes. A scale model of the starship Enterprise would keep him out of mischief for a while. You can always get him something that you can challenge him with, such as a shoot 'em up computer game. But my dad would really like a pair of Argyle socks.

Striped Socks If You Dare

Striped dress socks are especially important to me. I work in a professional environment, and I am required to boring old suit, complete with a power tie and well tailored pants. It is alright, and it looks really good on me, but it is a little bit doudy and sedate for my taste. With my striped dress socks, I get to cut loose on at least one aspect of my clothing. It is almost like a small rebellion, a way of asserting identity in what is, by and large, a very conformist workplace.

Brooks Sports, Inc., a subsidiary of Russell Corporation, is an athletic footwear company devoted to runners and high quality running shoes with a specialty dealer channel strategy focused completely on meeting the specific needs of runners in more than 40 countries.

Name recognition may not be as great as competitors such as Nike, however Brooks running shoes are well known and respected by running enthusiasts. Some of the outstanding developments introduced by Brooks include HydroFlow FLX, a superior manufacturing technique that provides advanced cushioning to runners with a high arch, Diagonal Rollbar, a technologically advanced feature (for runners with a low arch that requires enhanced motion control) and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, a ground-breaking mid-sole material that has now become the industry standard. The accomplished biomechanics professionals, industry scientists and engineers at Brooks continue to consistently strive to develop running shoes that will help to prevent running related injury and increase comfort.

One of Brooks most popular styles of motion control running shoes is the Beast for men. Designed for the runner with a low or flat arch, the Beast provides maximum support and plush, long lasting cushioning to protect the runners feet from injury and enhance the enjoyment of the overall run.

Running Shoes

Walk into any running shoe store nowadays, and the products will practically jump off the wall. Subtlety of design has not been emphasized in the marketing of running shoes. The more bumps, ridges, racing stripes, vents, stitches, and colors that gym shoes have, the better. Although not all running shoes have horrible, garish designs, generally the more expensive ones do. If you want to buy the top rated Nike shoes to look like the coolest kid in school, you have to be willing to shell out a good bit of dough. However, the quality of athletic shoes is not determined by their flash or their price. If you are willing to look a little bit deeper, you will find the shoes that are perfect for you.

Running shoes themselves are a pretty recent development. When I was growing up, gym shoes were gym shoes. There was not all that much variety, and the different brands all went through the same trends together. When one shoe company started to add more padding to help people avoid injuries, the other ones all followed suit. The shoes everyone wore back then were probably the ancestors of what people call “cross training shoes” nowadays. They were designed to be used in a lot of different sports and activities.

I can still remember the first time I got to wear a pair of actual running shoes. You see, I was an all around jock, but I only owned a couple different pairs of tennis shoes. I had my soccer cleats for playing soccer and football, and my gym shoes for basketball and track. Those running shoes, however, were something different. They were lighter, springier, and more flexible than anything I had had the chance to wear before. I felt faster on my feet from the very first time that I put them on. They soon became my very favorite pair of shoes in the world!

I know that things have advanced in some ways since then. First of all, there are far better synthetic materials available, giving the companies the ability to make high-tech running shoes which are lighter and more flexible than ever before. Even so, it seems like something has been lost. Everything is so completely geared towards marketing that you can't help but think that the jogging shoes aren't nearly as well made as they would be if they weren't so completely tailored towards looks.

Running Shoes Guide

Before you set out to purchase your first pair of running shoes, you should be intimately aware of your individual foot shape and the fundamental differences between the various types of running shoes.

Your foot shape is determined by the arch of your foot. A low arch, or flat foot, tends to move in such a way that the heel strikes the ground too far towards the outside edge. This movement then transfers the weight along the foot causing the foot to rotate back too far. A low arch foot requires motion control running shoes. A normal arch, or middle arch foot will land slightly on the outside edge, transfer the weight along the foot causing it to roll slightly inwards. A runner with a normal arch need only search for running shoes with moderately enhanced stability running shoes. A foot with a high arch will land closer to the heel of the foot when running and when the weight is transferred along the foot there is little rotation resulting in very little shock absorption. A high arched foot requires cushioned running shoes.

The motion control running shoes that are designed for the low arch runner are designed to prevent the excessive rotation as the weight is transferred along the foot. Correcting this excessive rotation protects the foot from injury. The correction is incorporated into the running shoe by designing the shoe in such a way that it is more rigid and slightly heavier.

Stability running shoes are recommended for a normal arch or middle arch foot are designed with a minimal amount of both motion control and cushioning and will help to protect the runner from injuries often associated with improper running shoes.

Cushioned running shoes for the high arch foot are designed exactly the way you would think they would be – with a great amount of additional cushioning. The additional cushioning encourages the correct foot rotation and provides the superior shock absorption necessary for the runner with a high arch to avoid injury.

Proper running shoes suited specifically for your foot shape will ensure that your running will be a safe, effective and enjoyable form of exercise!

Saucony Running Shoes

Saucony, Inc. a subsidiary of Stride Rite, is best known for its fine line of high performance running shoes. Saucony running shoes are sold in approximately 21 Saucony outlet stores and through shoe retailers and sporting goods stores in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Saucony running shoes outperform many of their competitors running shoes due to the fact that Sauconys entire selection of running shoes are designed based on tried and tested concepts, sound principals and extensive biomechanical research and development. Saucony utilizes advanced technology to tailor their running shoes to suit the requirements of each individual runners foot shape and personal needs. Saucony was the first introduced their exclusive Grid cushioning system in 1991 to accommodate the runner who is need of both superior cushioning and stability.
