On the first day of each year millions of men and women make a resolution to get fit – start an exercise program, eat less and eat smarter, stick to that fad diet this time, etc. Though the goal is admirable and the intent is good, not many of those millions of people actually stick to the plan. Sometimes adding something new, like an exercise program or membership at the gym, becomes just too difficult to add to an already over booked schedule. However, women who resolve to get fit through a combination of proper eating and running for exercise are often able to keep their resolution and dont experience the depression and regret associated with broken resolutions. This could be in part due to the fact that running as a form of regular exercise does not require a large investment of time or money. In fact, the largest financial investment a runner will make is in good running shoes.
The best running shoe for both men and women is primarily determined by the proper shoe size and the arch of the individuals foot. A person with a mid-arch, or normal arch, will need stability running shoes with a minimal amount of cushioning and motion control. A low arch requires running shoes featuring enhanced motion control and a high arch will need to be compensated for with running shoes that provide additional cushioning in specific areas of the shoe.
Most major brands of running shoes are available in the same style for both women and men with no substantial differences in the specialized structure of the shoe and only slight differences in colors and designs. Although some styles of running shoes are available in exactly the same color and style for men and women, mens running shoes tend to be designed with bolder and more contrasting colors and designs, while womens running shoes are inclined to be more subtle in color and design. The majority of running shoes with additional cushioning are sold to women, but this is only due to the fact that there are more women than men with a high arch.
