Why isolated workouts don't work as well
Working out with an abdominal machine isolates the abdominal muscles from the rest of the body. Of course infomercials for some of the gadgets that have come out in the last decade position them as the only way to get six pack abs how ever it's unfortunately quite far from the truth. These machines might build up very strong abdominal muscles, but you will struggle with a six pack? Why? That's what we're going to discuss next.
Body Fat is Causing the Problem
You could have the strongest abdominals in the world, but if you're body fat percentage isn't bely 10% or a man or about 12% for a women you're not going to see the definition of the 6 pack. There is usually a small layer of belly fat covering over the abdominal muscles of even those people most fit in the world. You need to combine abdominal training with fat burning exercises to lose abdominal fat before you can start seeing definition in your abs.

Not focusing on just your abs with abdominal workout machines is the first step. The second stage is getting into exercises that don't just build lean muscle but they'll actually help you burn fat.
