Under guidance from my father, a Naturopath and Osteopath, lecturer and practitioner of over 30 years in the UK, I under took a 4 day water fast at the beginning of November 05. It was fascinating.

I had suffered from insomnia for much of my life, and so taking care of my health has always been a priority. how to get to sleep.
Day 2 was worse psychologically because of the memory of hunger pain over day 1, hunger at that present, and the prospect of a further 2.5 days of the same.
But day 3 was ok as the hunger went and I accepted the physical weakness and just became interested in my physical symptoms.
Symptoms included:
• Feeling very cold, using 2 thick jumpers
• Heart palpatations
• Light sleeping with ambiguous but regular dreaming
• I lost adipose tissue and muscle (I didn’t have much fat to lose in the first place)
By day 3 and on to day 5 I was physically very weak.
Purpose of fast was as a health test/booster and disease preventative measure.
Day 5 includes fruit and veg juices. Day 6 adds vegetable and fruit solids with a soup.
Day 7 is basically back to normal eating.
I dont advise doing one without finding out about it properly first. If you live healthily now then it may be worth considering, although there is usually a great deal of other things that are more important to focus on, like a good diet, exercise and all that normal stuff.
And during a fast like that, you won't have the energy to lift your leg, let alone weights.
